July 2013

First a thank you

The Parish Council would like to thank Stuart Cariss who has done a splendid job maintaining the pond area in Hessay this year. It has never looked so good!

And welcome ...

...to everyone who has recently joined the mailing list.

High Speed Broadband

The Parish Council is keen to ensure that Hessay is not left out of the initiative to bring high speed broadband to North Yorkshire.

The infrastructure for high speed broadband (fibre to the cabinet) has been installed as far as the telephone exchange at Rufforth. We understand that BT have no plans at present to extend this to the cabinets in Hessay but that we can apply to have this reviewed, and our case will be vastly strengthened if we can demonstrate significant residential or commercial demand.

A form will be circulated to every address in the village. Please complete and return the form.

A Big Breakfast

As mentioned in the last newsletter, the Tour de France will start in Yorkshire on the 5th and 6th July 2014, passing Hessay on the A59 early on Sunday morning. It has been suggested that we organise a Big Breakfast in Hessay that morning for everyone who wants to watch the action.

More details to follow nearer the time.

Dates for your diary

An additional Parish Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 16th July at 7.00pm in the Methodist Chapel Schoolroom, to consider two recent planning applications.

The next regular Parish Council meeting will be held on Wedneday 11th September at 7.30pm in the Methodist Chapel Schoolroom.

Join in a Big Breakfast after the Tour de France cyclists have whizzed past on Sunday 6th July 2014.
