March 2013

Willow Garth and other parish land projects

The Parish Council hasn’t yet been successful in obtaining grant funding to complete the proposed Wetland Recreation Project in Willow Garth. However a few residents have volunteered to team up to start some of the work on Saturday 23rd March, weather permitting, to continue the Parish Council’s efforts to maintain and improve areas of parish land.

There has also been a request to ask if anyone finds themselves with a surplus of top soil this spring then please consider the village allotments as an alternative home for it. Please contact the Parish Council if you can help –

Diamond Jubilee commemoration tree planting

The Parish Council planted an English Oak tree; to be known as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Oak; at Willow Garth in January.

HGVs in the village

At the last meeting the parish council heard details of residents’ concerns about HGVs travelling through Hessay in contravention of the 7.5 tonne weight limit (except for access). We would like to advise residents that these incidents should, where possible, be reported to the police by dialling 101 supplying details including registration plates.

The Grand Depart 2014 - 6th July 2014

You are probably aware that the Tour de France will start in Yorkshire on the 5th and 6th July 2014, passing Hessay on the A59 on the second day. It has been suggested that we might like to mark the occasion in the village and we ask that you bring any ideas to the Annual Parish Meeting.
