First a thank you

The Parish Council would like to thank Jack Holliday who generously donated considerable time to refurbish the seat on Main Street.

Spring bulbs and bird and bat boxes

The City of York Council has awarded us £200 to buy spring bulbs for the village. The Parish Council has agreed to buy snowdrops for the area surrounding the pond, crocuses for the verge adjacent to the playground and daffodils for the verge next to the pond and at the entrances to the village on Main Street and New Road.
We have also committed to increasing the number of bird boxes in the parish. These will be installed in areas of parish land this winter.

New Road level crossing

It has been brought to our attention that Network Rail is planning the upgrade and automation of the gates at the level crossing on New Road. Any further information we receive about timescales, or about associated improvements to New Road will be shared in future newsletters.

Village allotments

One and a half allotment plots remain vacant in Hessay. If anyone would be interested in renting either space from next Spring please contact the Council.
