January 2015 - Broadband Working Group

A request to anyone in the village with expertise in the industry and/or interest in improving the broadband provision in Hessay:
The Parish Council has proposed forming a Working Group; to lobby and support CYC; to ensure we get the best possible broadband service for the village.
Please come to the meeting on Wednesday 14th January, or let the council know that you might be able to get involved.

December 2014

Here is an update from CYC about superfast broadband. In summary:

  • CYC has drawn-up a list of priority areas where they have identified a need for improved broadband, and Hessay is listed top of that list.
  • CYC has instigated a consultation exercise to establish whether or not any private sector organisation has plans to upgrade the broadband provision in these so called white areas (without access to FTTC broadband) in the immediate future.
  • Assuming that there are no privately funded schemes planned, the council will seek a contractor to upgrade broadband provision.
  • At this stage there is no specific technical solution proposed (Hessay Parish Council has already voiced it’s view that we should have provision equivalent to that provided in Rufforth and Long Marston).
  • The timescales suggest that any upgrade would be implemented in ‘early 2016’.
